Theater and Biodiversity

  • Educational and Cultural Theater Theatrical performances and educational projects. Location: Luigi Pirandello Theater.
  • LIVING DIODOROS: The Fridays of Biodiversity Weekly events highlighting biodiversity and agricultural heritage. Location: Diodoros House, Valley of the Temples.
  • Opera in Theater 2025 A year-long series of unmissable theatrical performances. Location: Luigi Pirandello Theater.

January

  • January 17: Opening of the “SCART” Exhibition Artworks created from industrial waste. Location: Chapel of Santa Sofia (until March 2).
  • January 18: Inauguration Ceremony Agrigento officially becomes Capital of Culture in a ceremony attended by the President of Italy. Location: Luigi Pirandello Theater.
  • January 19: Concert in Tribute to Ennio Morricone Famous compositions by Maestro Morricone performed by the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra. Location: Luigi Pirandello Theater.

February

  • February 2: “A Landscape to Savor” Tastings of local products and workshops held every first Sunday of the month. Location: Kolymbethra Garden.
  • February 8: Concert by Giovanni Allevi An exclusive performance by the renowned pianist and composer. Location: Luigi Pirandello Theater.
  • February 22-28: Sciacca Carnival Traditional festivities featuring parades and floats. Location: Sciacca.

March

  • March 8-16: Almond Blossom Festival Celebrating spring with folklore festivals and performances. Location: Various sites across Agrigento.
  • March 27-29: Efebo d’Oro Film Festival A cinematic and literary showcase. Location: Pietro Griffo Archaeological Museum.

April

  • April 9-12: SPHAIROS: Philosophical Encounters Discussions on identity and knowledge held in the places of Empedocles.
  • April 13-20: Holy Week Rites Religious processions and celebrations. Locations: Cathedral, historical center of Agrigento.
  • April 21: Easter Monday in the Valley of the Temples Guided tours, picnics, and nature trails. Location: Kolymbethra Garden.

    • Sapienti Mani – Workshops on the craft of engraving. Location: Mudia Diocesan Museum.
    • Virgo Fidelis Exhibition – Dedicated to the Patron Saint of the Carabinieri Corps. Location: Carabinieri Provincial Command (until May 30).
    • Klangforum Wien: Urban Interaction – Concerts at iconic locations in Agrigento.
  • May 10: Roots: From Empedocles to Community Welfare Interdisciplinary seminars. Location: University Territorial Hub.
  • May 15-20: Symposion Musicale A week-long musical event at the Theater of the Ephebe.

  • July 10: Open-Air Cinema Festival Evening screenings under the stars. Location: Valley of the Temples.
  • July 15-22: Classical Theater Festival Performances of Greek and Latin tragedies.

August

  • August 8-14: Sea Festival Celebrations featuring cultural events and maritime traditions. Location: San Leone.
  • August 18-25: We Are All Migrants Exhibition A symbolic sculpture displayed at Piazza Pirandello.

  • November 10-15: Efebo d’Oro 2025 Celebrating cinema with awards, retrospectives, and talks with filmmakers.
