New Rail Connection Between Palermo Airport and Agrigento Centrale Railway Station: Date: December 11, 2023   Today marks a significant day for for those traveling between Agrigento and Palermo’s “Falcone e Borsellino” international airport. With the introduction of four new daily services, travelers can now enjoy direct connections, significantly reducing travel times to just 2 hours and 30 minutes. The direct link between Agrigento Centrale and Palermo Airport was inaugurated by Trenitalia Regionale, at the request of the Sicilian Region. Without passing through Palermo Centrale, trains will make key stops at intermediate stations, ensuring a quick and efficient connection. Departures from Agrigento Centrale are scheduled at 5:50 AM and 10:50 AM, arriving at Palermo Airport at 8:17 AM and 1:23 PM, respectively. Trains departing from Palermo Airport will be at 1:40 PM and 5:40 PM, arriving at Agrigento Centrale at 4:14 PM (4:12 PM on holidays) and 8:12 PM. Along with the rail service, a train + bus service has also been operational since December 10, simplifying the connection between Agrigento Centrale station and the Valley of the Temples. This connection offers 28 bus trips on weekdays and 11 on holidays, allowing travelers to reach the Valley of the Temples in just 12 minutes from Agrigento Centrale station. Traveling to Palermo just got even better with the launch of the new Genio Express service. It provides five speedy connections from Monday to Saturday and six on holidays, offering a daily commute between Palermo Centrale station and “Falcone e Borsellino” airport with only one stop at Palermo Notarbartolo. These new services work together with the current Palermo Passante options, guaranteeing a steady connection with 73 trains running between Palermo and Palermo Airport on weekdays. With various types of trains making different stops and taking different travel times, users have the flexibility to choose between fast travel or a more detailed service.
