The Italian National Commission for UNESCO, established in 1950, aims to promote the promotion, connection, information, consultation and implementation of UNESCO programs in Italy. The composition, tasks and functioning of the Commission were lastly regulated by Ministerial Decree no. 4195 of May 24, 2007.
The existence of the Commission stems from Article VII of the London Convention of 16 November 1945, which established UNESCO. Similar entities are operational in almost all 195 UNESCO member countries.
