It is an egg laying place of sea turtles.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Monti di Palazzo Adriano e Valle del Sosio <\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;<em>\u00a0managed by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pti.regione.sicilia.it\/portal\/page\/portal\/PIR_PORTALE\/PIR_LaStrutturaRegionale\/PIR_AssessoratoregionaledelleRisorseAgricoleeAlimentari\/PIR_AzForesteDemaniali\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Azienda Foreste Demaniali Regione Siciliana<\/strong><\/a><\/em>\u00a0<em>&#8212;&#8211;tel. 0916274111 &#8212;&#8212;fax 0916274201\u00a0<\/em>\r\nThe Sosio river flows in a canyon, surrounded by a dense forest in its natural state. It is home to a rich and varied birdlife.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Foce del Fiume Platani\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0<em>managed by\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pti.regione.sicilia.it\/portal\/page\/portal\/PIR_PORTALE\/PIR_LaStrutturaRegionale\/PIR_AssessoratoregionaledelleRisorseAgricoleeAlimentari\/PIR_AzForesteDemaniali\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Azienda Foreste Demaniali Regione Siciliana<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\r\nSand dunes and a lush vegetation surround the river banks- stopping place, among others, of black winged stilts.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Macalube di Aragona<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;<em>\u00a0mananged by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150907182050\/http:\/\/legambientesicilia.it\/\"><strong>Legambiente<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>&#8212;tel.0922699210 &#8211; fax 0922690021&#8211;<\/em>\u00a0<em><a href=\"mailto:macalube@oasi.net\">email<\/a><\/em>\r\nRare geological phenomenon, already known in ancient times, consisting of mud volcanoes, a few inches high, from which come out brackish white mud and natural gas.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Monte Genuardo e Santa Maria del Bosco\u00a0<\/strong>&#8212;\u00a0<em>managed by\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pti.regione.sicilia.it\/portal\/page\/portal\/PIR_PORTALE\/PIR_LaStrutturaRegionale\/PIR_AssessoratoregionaledelleRisorseAgricoleeAlimentari\/PIR_AzForesteDemaniali\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Azienda Foreste Demaniali Regione Siciliana<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\r\nThis large mountain (m.1.179 high), contains an extensive forest of oaks, inhabited by a very varied and interesting fauna, at the centre of which is the ancient Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco (16th century)<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Siculiana (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lavalledeitempli.it\/en\/itineraries\/agrigento\/torre-salsa\/\">Torre Salsa<\/a>) &#8211;<\/strong><em>managed by<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150907182050\/http:\/\/www.wwftorresalsa.com\/\">\u00a0<\/a><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wwf.it\/oasi\/sicilia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WWF<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\r\nAn intact coastal environment of rare beauty, with sand dunes and Mediterranean maquis.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Montallegro (Lago Gorgo)\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0<em>managed by<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lipu.it\/oasi-di-montallegro-agrigento\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>\u00a0l.i.p.u<\/strong>.<\/a><\/em>\r\nOriginated as an artificial lake, it has rapidly taken on the role and the configuration of an ideal place of transit for migration birds between Africa and Europe.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Monte Cammarata<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212;<em>-managed by\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pti.regione.sicilia.it\/portal\/page\/portal\/PIR_PORTALE\/PIR_LaStrutturaRegionale\/PIR_AssessoratoregionaledelleRisorseAgricoleeAlimentari\/PIR_AzForesteDemaniali\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Azienda Foreste Demaniali Regione Siciliana<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\r\nThe highest peak of the Monti Sicani (m.1.578). Finches and pigeons nest here.
