Archaeological and Landscape Park<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\nWith Law No. 20\/2000, the autonomous Region of Sicily created the Archaeological and landscape Park of the Valley of the Temples which has as its purpose the protection and enhancement of the archaeological heritage, environment and landscape of the “Valley of the Temples.” This modern term indicates not only the area of the ancient city, but also the surrounding area, crossed by the Akragas and Ypsas rivers, extending up to the hill of Montelusa and the sea of St. Leone.\r\n\r\nThe archaeological and landscape park covers an area of \u200b\u200babout 1300 hectares and coincides with the perimeter of the A Zone as defined by previous national and regional laws in 1968 and 1971. The park is divided into three zones subject to different requirements:\r\n
