The Sicilian Region has recently reconsidered its decision regarding increases in ticket prices for cultural sites, opting for a gradual implementation of the new rates. The Councillor for Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity has issued a new decree, amending the one previously signed on December 22, which initially proposed a 30% increase starting from January 1. This change was prompted by a request from the regional administration, urging a reconsideration of the impact on visitors to avoid discouraging cultural site attendance. The new provision establishes that the increases in the costs of tickets for regional monumental sites will be phased in gradually, with a 50% increase starting from January 1, 2024, and the remaining 50% starting from January 1, 2025.
